Friends Of Fladbury
Progressive Supper Report
Organisers Jane Bugg and Steve Curtis were overjoyed at the positive comments received for the first Friends of Fladbury Progressive Supper, held on Saturday 14th March, with many people asking for a repeat event in the summer.
For many of the 36 participants, this was their first experience of such an event and all were appreciative of the (apparent) slick organisation, which had required some logistical juggling in the days before.
The evening commenced with everyone coming together in the village hall for pre-dinner drinks, before revealing the 5 venues for the starter course, with hosts entertaining random groups of around 8 people to a range of delicious starters, whilst guests got to know each other, if they didn’t already.
At the alloted time after eating, hosts then revealed the 4 dinner venues, together with which each guest was to attend. With four new hosts and different groups of around 8, guests were once again entertained to a range of magnificant main courses, as they got to know each other, if they didn’t already.
Finally everyone ‘drifted’ back to the Village Hall, to enjoy further drinks, coffee and a spread of many different tasty desserts, provided by all of the participants who had not hosted a starter or main course venue.
Altogether, the evening was considered a great success, for which we must thank organisers Jane and Steve, together with pudding contributers, music providers and all who helped with the village hall preparation and clear up.
Our Treasurer, Caroline Curtis was pleased to send the £400 raised directly to the Pershore Food Bank in St Andrews, Church Walk, the Friends of Fladbury chosen charity for the event, following contact with the Trussell Trust, their umbrella charity.
Friends of Fladbury also welcome requests for funds for Fladbury village groups and projects. We have recently provided a grants of £700 for the village hall, £200 for the football club, £200 for the new Fladbury History Group and £500 for Fladbury School.

Who are Friends of Fladbury?
The Friends of Fladbury were founded at the beginning of 2012 after the successful fundraising by Friends of Pool Garden to establish a new and improved play ground for young children in Farm Street. The group aims to be a facilitator of community events, fundraising and projects and has representatives from the community, Parish Council, the Church, sports clubs and the Fladbury Walkabout.
Regular events now include the Festive Five Run in December/January, The Spring Fling dinner dance in March and Fladbury Fete in September. In addition we hold social events throughout the year; bulb planting, tea dances, village hall parties, carol singing…
We actively encourage local groups to apply for funding from Friends of Fladbury and have supported various organisations, such as Brownies, Rainbows, Fladbury Paddle club, Scrabble Club, Fladbury Village Hall, Fladbury Church, Fladbury Cricket Club and Fladbury CE First School.
Our current committee – Caroline Curtis is the Treasurer and committee members volunteer as ‘roving’ Chair and Secretary. Current committee members are Louise Bugg, Julie Cross, Alice Jennings, Ian Southcott, Jane Bugg, Andy Train, Steve Curtis, Caroline Curtis, Jenny Curtis, Sue Poultney and Geoff Mills.
