New Chairmen for Walkabout

Following yet another successful Walkabout, Philip Hildesley and Martin Ounsted have decided that the time is right for them to stand down from their positions as Co-Chairs. The Executive Committee would like to thank them for their outstanding leadership and support over the past six years, in which time newcomers and new ideas have been strongly welcomed, helping the Walkabout to continue to progress and flourish.

The Executive Committee is pleased announce the appointment of Steve Curtis (previously Vice-Chair) and Ian Southcott (previously Secretary) as the new Co-Chairs, with Peter Lacy continuing as Treasurer. The appointment of two further officers to the Executive Committee is anticipated and suitable candidates are actively being sought.

Flower Festival

Once again the Walkabout Committe and their many helpers came together to create for our many visitors "the friendly Walkabout".

With twenty eight Open Gardens this year and our renowned Flower Festival (themed on 'Landscapes'), visitors were pleased to find many of their favourites returning (as listed below), this year complemented by the addition of Steam Boat trips and Horse and Carriage rides. There were concerns though over the very hot weather, which restricted some of our planned activities.

We hope to see you next year!
